“The Female Andies” on my terms are two main characters who came out from two of my all time favorite films. One of them is female Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) from “How to lose a guy in 10 days” and the other one is Adrea “Andy” Sachs (Anne Hathaway) from “the Devil wears Prada”. So this post is definitely for those who have watched the two films or those who are going to watch them. You can tell me which Andy that you prefer though.
Well, in order to make my points here, there is obviously no Andy who is better than the other (Except for the fact I personally prefer Kate Hudson to Anne Hathaway), both are young, beautiful and independent in their own ways. I have found several in common interesting characteristics of these two that I would never forget.
Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) is a writer who works for a magazine called Composure as the “How to…” girl. She is bored and wishes she could write more about important things, such as politics, economics, religion, poverty; stuff she cares about.

Andrea “Andy” Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is a frizzy hair but aspiring journalist fresh out of Northwestern University. Despite her ridicule for the shallowness of the fashion industry, she lands a job that “a million girls would kill for” as a junior personal assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the icy editor-in-chief of Runway fashion magazine. Andy plans to put up with Miranda’s bizarre and humiliating treatment for one year in hopes of getting a job as a reporter or writer somewhere else.

Smart. Beautiful & Independent
This is more like a personal taste for me and I do believe and respect the beauty of all women all around the world. However, if I were a man, I would never take my eyes off this typical type of women who owns a ‘fresh’ look; a sense of humour and … a real job. I love those who care about their looks or at least to have a a style as it appears to me that they know how to love and respect themselves. Perhaps you don’t need a job to sustain your life (if you are the type of person who invents jobs), but please don’t tell me you can live without having to work in this 21st century by having wealthy parents or boyfriends or partners who are, unconditionally willing to look after you for the rest of your life. Well, maybe you can, then you are not the type of girl that I am talking about.
Yes She can!
Not all the time you are assigned a task that you want to do, especially when you are hired to do so. Yes you can quit, but I would not quit, neither these two “Andies” would quit the job without having a good reason. Besides, I personally would not quit my job if I know I am not financially stable for at least 3 months spending on searching for a new job.
Back to the story of Andie Anderson, by being a good friend of Michelle – who had just experienced a breakdown after yet another break-up, Andie, by trying to help her friend, volunteered to write an article called: “How to lose a Guy in 10 days” instead of having to see her friend having to take this “heart-breaking” mission. Find a guy, date a guy and break up with a guy in just 10 days wasn’t really like the ‘Mission Impossible’ for a young, beautiful and intelligent lady like Andie. But it is also not as easy as turning from a young, beautiful and intelligent lady, Andie, during her 10 days of ‘playing’ her role as a horrible girlfriend, must act like a “psycho” girl at all times by having to reveal all common mistakes that all the men do not want their women to make. The job started getting more difficult when Andie realized her true feelings towards Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey) – her co-partner in this mental game. It was a fun yet tough time for the couple but both achieved their goals. Andie successfully found the guy, lost him in 10 days and wrote an article which was far-more-better than what her boss expected her to write.

Meanwhile, in ‘The Devil Wears Prada”, Andy Sachs seemed to take a challenge which was a bit too much for her. It was a ‘360 degrees’ change for Andy as she had to learn to adapt to her new working environment, starting from her appearance, habits and even to the extent that she had to ‘betray’ her soul, her friends and especially her beloved boyfriend in order to become a good fit for the position. It might sound too much of a hassle but if you work in a company in which all your co-workers are kind of a fashion conscious type and if you ever have a demanding and ‘devil’ boss like Miranda, I think you would understand. At the end, Miranda knew, and even Andy knew that she did a terrific job as a personal assistant to Miranda. The boss thought she saw herself in Andy, she finally confessed, but Andy refused to be the second Miranda. Andy is different. At the end of the film, Miranda sarcastically gave her recommendation of Andy to Andy’s next employer by saying Andy had been worst personal assistant that she has ever had and he would have only been an idiot if he did not want to hire her.

It’s important to follow your heart
Both Andies chose journalism as a profession and both decided to quit their current jobs while they were at the best of their careers. Let’s not discuss the right or wrong here. When you feel like having enough of what you’ve done at the current job, do not get anything stop you from finding something else that you love to do, even if it means scarifying a job that millions of people would die for. If you don’t feel it right then there is no point in being the one in every crowd. Life is short, and you work to live so it is important that you love what you do.
There’s always something good in everything. Always.
No matter what decision that you make in life, you will always be able to make the best out of it. Thanks to this job, Andie Anderson found the love of her life and finally is able to decide what she wants to write as a journalist. As for the other Andy, I have no doubt she must have learned the importance of appearance in creating the first impression apart from her ‘inner beauty’. At the same time, she also realized that appearance is not everything. She gave up not only on the expensive fashion brands but also all the materially luxury delusions which have been created by the rich and famous, and just by then, she managed not only to land her dream job but also to get her ex-boyfriend back for good.
