Preface
Amidst Green Grass, Beneath Misty Skies is a multi-media presentation that invites viewers to reflect on their intrinsic relationship with the natural world. Featuring a diverse range of artistic expressions—including oil paintings, works on paper, hand-painted ceramics and artisanal fashion garments —this exhibition weaves together themes of nature, time, and human presence. With works from artists Nguyen Thuy Hang, Duong Thuy Duong, Hoang Anh, and Mifa, the exhibition embarks on a journey of exploration, capturing the beauty that often goes unnoticed in our surroundings. Their works navigate the delicate balance between the fleeting and the eternal, from the overlooked marvels of the natural world to the undeniable transformations shaping our ever-changing landscapes. By examining both the subtle and the monumental shifts in nature, the exhibition invites audiences to reconsider their own relationships with the environment and the ways in which human presence intertwines with the organic world.
The show presents a meditation on the ever-evolving dialogue between humanity and Mother Nature. It examines the subtle yet powerful transformations that take place beneath our feet—the tectonic shifts, the slow formation of minerals, the flourishing of flora—all of which often go unnoticed in the rush of daily life. These elemental changes parallel the human experience: we come and go, yet the natural world continues to thrive beyond our individual existences. Amidst Green Grass, Beneath Misty Skies encourages visitors to recognize that nature is not merely a backdrop to our existence but an enduring force that nurtures, shelters, and outlives us.
Among the works on view are the archival Flower fashion collection from Chula and the Blooming hand-painted ceramics collection from Bat Trang Museum Atelier, both inspired by botanical forms and organic cycles. These works invite viewers to reflect on the quiet yet profound ways in which nature shapes and influences human life.

About the Fashion Show
Chula’s Cinema Collection is a captivating exploration of the symbiotic relationship between fashion and film, transforming cinematic narratives into wearable art. It’s not a mere replication of movie costumes, but a thoughtful interpretation of cinematic moods and storytelling. Designers at Chula masterfully translate the drama and romance of classic and contemporary films into striking silhouettes, evocative patterns, and flowing fabrics. This collection, a celebration of artistic fusion, evokes a sense of nostalgia and theatricality, inviting wearers to embody the magic of the movies. By blending its signature Vietnamese-Spanish aesthetic with the visual language of cinema, Chula creates a truly unique and compelling collection that resonates with art lovers and fashion enthusiasts alike, proving that clothing can be a powerful medium for storytelling.

About the artists
Nguyen Thuy Hang (b. 1978) is a visual artist, poet, and writer, graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts in 2002, and is renowned for her talent in both literature and visual arts. With experiences growing up in post-war Vietnam, as well as training and working in the West and Vietnam, her writings are packed with mystical and chaotic elements, which are also reflected in her paintings and sculptures, evoking a sense of loneliness and isolation within the context of Vietnamese society.
Duong Thuy Duong (b. 1979) graduated in 2009 from the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Germany. Currently living and working in Berlin, Germany, Duong’s art is a visual dialogue between Eastern and Western identities, culturally and artistically. Her multi-layered oil paintings employ various techniques that create optical illusions that raise questions about our beliefs in metaphysical theories on Creation, Evolution, Love, Life and Death.
Hoàng Anh (b. 1981) is a painter based in Dalat. He graduated from Hue University of Fine Arts in 2005. Hoang Anh is interested in the connections between human relationships and imaginations of the surrounding world, blurring the boundaries between reality and the supernatural. Some notable exhibitions include: “The Outlandish Landscape” (Wiking Salon, HCMC, 2024), “Dreamscape” (Wiking Salon, HCMC, 2024), “Connection” (New Space Arts Foundation, Hue, 2014), “Moiland Chapter 1-2-3” (Dalat, 2019-2021), “Nổ Cái Bùm” (Dalat, 2022).
Mifa (b. 1990), graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture in 2013, is currently a painter living and working in Da Nang. Since 2015, she has focused on researching and experimenting with acrylic paints on traditional Vietnamese Diep paper. Her works delve into the depth of the harmony and conflict of Eastern identity in the era of globalisation that runs parallel with the desire to preserve and develop the folk spirit through the form of painting. Her artistic experience is the study and attempt to reproduce the painting techniques of ancient Eastern civilizations such as texture patterns, gilding, calligraphy, watercolour, manual printing, paper mounting… combined with personal techniques inspired by the surface of Vietnamese lacquer paintings.
