Melbourne, Australia, 12 May 2025 – STONE Accounting Group opens the year 2025 with confident steps into new territories, announcing the opening of their two new offices – in Sunshine Coast, Queensland and Kobe, Japan. More than geographic growth, these milestones mark a strategic response to an evolving professional landscape that is redefining the standards for accounting practices across Australia and beyond. 

In the vibrant and fast-growing Sunshine Coast region, Daren Cardow now leads STONE Accounting Group’s newest local office. With a longstanding reputation for integrity and regional insight, Daren represents the next generation of the firm’s vision, one where independent professionals are empowered to lead their own practices under a framework of robust support, values, and continuous learning. 

The Sunshine Coast office will offer a full suite of services from compliance and tax advisory to strategic business planning, with a focus on personal connection and long-term trust. 

Across the region, the new associated office in Kobe, Japan brings STONE Accounting Group’s presence deeper into Asia-Pacific. This expansion strengthens client relationships in Japan while opening new pathways for cross-border collaboration. The Kobe office reflects a steady, intentional approach to growth, one that is local-first, value-aligned, and internationally minded.

These expansions come as the accounting profession in Australia prepares for one of its most significant regulatory shifts in recent years. Effective 1 July 2025, the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) will require tax practitioners – especially those operating as companies, partnerships, or trusts – to implement and maintain a documented Quality Management System (QMS). This change moves the profession toward more structured, proactive management of risk, supervision, and service quality, aligning accounting practices with broader standards seen across financial services. 

In preparation for the next wave of industry development, STONE Accounting Group has proactively laid the groundwork through its Membership Program. The strategy is for the firm to equip our members with practical templates, expert advisory, and continuous training, enabling them to embed quality, compliance, and ethical leadership into every layer of their operations, and stay ahead of evolving professional standards.
