Working by Design: How discipline shapes an intentional life

There’s a quiet kind of excellence that requires no announcement to be noticed. You just happen to see it every now and then in the way someone carries themselves, in the steady focus, the consistent schedule, and the attentive expression when carefully planning not just work details but also their life rhythm. That’s Dave Tien Anh.

As Business Intelligence Associate at The Brand Promise, Dave brings precision and clarity to every corner of our decision-making. His background in Digital Business from RMIT University equipped him with practical skills in market research, data analysis, and business systems, all of which now support his work in turning numbers and narratives into clear patterns and actionable insights.
After nearly one year with us, Dave has quietly built the backbone of many of our industry reports and business proposals. Whether he’s mapping out a market outlook or structuring insights into logical sequences, he has a way of making complexity feel simple and turning scattered data into stories that speak. He has been the quiet engine behind every decision we make at The Brand Promise.
Off the clock, he’s a natural men’s physique athlete, training with the same structure, accountability, and patience that defines his work. Before, his 2024 debut at ICN Vietnam earned him Top 1 Men’s Physique (Junior) and Top 3 First-timer. For Dave, it’s never been just about the titles since day one.
“I saw it as a personal challenge, a way to learn through the process,” he shares. “The whole process of preparing for the competition has taught me the value of delayed gratification and living with appreciation. It was about proving to myself what could happen if I committed fully, both mentally and physically.” And so, what began as a physical pursuit evolved into a mindset: one grounded in resilience, focus, and steady growth.
This transformation didn’t unfold in the glamorous way. Dave started out as a skinny, pale, and uncertain freshman at university, determined to improve his physique through relentless hard work and sacrifice. His journey stands as a powerful testament to dedication and perseverance, proving that real growth takes time and doesn’t happen overnight.

We’ve seen it daily in the office, from the careful, personally-prepped meals to the small tweaks in his weekly routine after work, the attention to every gram of protein, and every set, every rep. Over time, this journey has revealed a new version of Dave. The rigour of the sport has sharpened his mindset and strengthened his sense of self. In many ways, the athlete and the analyst are not separate. They reinforce each other.
Dave reminds us that professionalism isn’t just about how we perform at work, but the intention we bring into how we live. He’s the kind of person who understands: the magic you’re looking for is often in the work you’re avoiding.
His story is just one example of how our company’s vision ‘Future of Work is Life’ vision can take shape − a rhythm where work and life don’t compete but quietly strengthen each other. We believe that kind of intention deserves space. What we set out to grow with a four-day workweek isn’t just about time off. It’s to create the conditions for our team to stay curious, stay disciplined, and stay whole to explore interests, sharpen skills, and live with clarity.
Because when people have the space to live more intentionally, they work more intentionally too.
